Trinity High School - "54-26. 599 yards rushing! My freshman wing ran 22 times for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns. He had the   first run from scrimmage a 60 yarder called back and two other runs called back. The other wing ran for 159 yards. Power right, power left. We scored on Counter XX and Powers. I know the internet haters are gonna say we padded these to, or the other team was just weak. Thats okay. They ran the DW and had 300 yards as well. Mostly on QB scrambles. Now we have to get our big boy involved. Last year he was a wing and ran for 1100 yards. He is a fullback now and our wedge and counter traps need improvement."-Coach Harris

Updated 11/2/06 - District Title Game Saturday!

"Going into the title game this weekend we are 5-4 and have the highest scoring offense in our district! Thus far we have rushed for 3,276 yards. My freshman Wing has 1400 of those. People in my conference now admit the DW is powerful! Parents don't yell for me to "throw the ball coach" anymore. Now they yell "Run the Wedge Coach".

Middle School Feedback-"Coach Calande,I just wanted to let you know your DW system and 46 gamber is now being used in western north carolina at Canton Middle School. We won our first game 30 - 12. We must have run the powers 90% of the time, we kept the ball the whole 2nd quarter. The other team never did stop it. I wish you could have seen there D cord. He was going nuts screaming at them to just hit some one. The defense never really broke down they scored on the opening kickoff with a run back, and the second score was my fault when I put in an unexperienced sam. They threw straight to the TE and burned us for a long td. I am the first to use this offense in my area and we a super happy with it. Our o line really smahed there defense.Coach Haney, Canton Middle"

2007 Update - The Super Jags enjoyed yet another stellar campaign!

"Hey Coach, Have not had alot of free time to let you know how our Union Road Jr Pee Wees came out in 2007.  We finished our season 13-1 with another trip to Disney to participate in the Pop Warner Super Bowl.  We won our first two games 34-6 and 24-6 and lost in the championship game to White Oak Warriors 14-0. Tough luck but a great season with the Calande Dw and the 46 Gambler.  We will be attending your clinic this year, we have not registered but will soon.  Looks like we may bring possibly 4 to 8 people from Gastonia NC to Pa.  We will let you know the numbers soon.  We will be having our football camp that following week, love to have you there maybe one day if possible. Talk to you soon and can't wait for your clinic.

Thank You
Alan Melton (Superjags)"

UK University Level Feedback- "Hi Coach,
Just in case you don't remember me, I have purchased most of your material for the DW (install set, drills manual etc). I have been very impressed with the material that you've developed. Using your materials, I have shared it with my team, the Raiders in the UK.
We won our last game 96-12 which I spoke to you about on the War Room.
I guess I just wanted to say thank you as we are looking to go
8-0 in our division and be the first Raider team to win our division and this is all thanks to your system.
I wish you success in every aspect of your life.

Canadian Football Feedback- "We won our third game 49 - 6. 537 yards of total offense including a 100 yard wedge TD by my FB. At one point two opposing players had looped around behind the wedge and had their hands on my fullback but were screaming "who has the ball?" The wedge "exploded" and my FB was off to the races! We have averaged 400 plus yards a game with a modified Calande offense (we lost one game due to mental mistakes). Huge plays on sweeps as the DC loaded up to stop the power series."- Spartans Coach

  • "Steve,Just finished the weekend by going over your playbook, drills manual and clinic dvd set. All I got to say is there is no freaking way anybody can lay claim that their DWing material is better than yours. I really sat down and found an answer for every question on my mind and then some. I would just like to say thanks:) -John"
  • "...Just thought I would drop you a line and let you know I took a team to the Vegas Football Championships over Thanksgiving weekend. We ran the 46 Gambler and killed it!  46 to 6 and 32 to 8.  I love the 46G!  Two National Championships and one League Championship running it."-Coach Sube
  • "I wanted to thank you for your help with the details of your offense.  We also used the 46Gambler defense and had a huge turn-around season. Last year, we were 2-9, this year we were 9-1-1!!  The loss was in the play-off semifinals.  The kids did a great job in executing and really bought into the offense and it showed.  Our defense only gave up around 40 points for the entire year while we scored close to 24 points per game."-Coach Rob
  •
  • "... Our now 5th Grade team (The Colts) this season went 11-2 and WON the Championship, blowing away everyone in the Playoffs by at least 3 TD’s. the DW was really clicking, as basically no one had an answer for the Powers, much less the Counters, etc. Execution was almost perfect on pulls and double teams..."-Coach Stevens
  •
  • "...Implementing the Calande DW from scratch with kids who not only had never run the DW before but who had never even played football before we ended up going 10-1.  Our only loss was in the first week to the league’s most powerful team...After that we went undefeated, averaging 30 points a game and playing mostly 2nd string kids the second half of almost every game.  We destroyed our first round playoff opponent 46-0 ... wanted to show you again that the DW can work with 8-9 yr old kids at a very competitive level with small, average players against even 8 and 9 man fronts if you will take the time to rep the kids on the pulling techniques, BEEF blocking techniques, and the good/god blocking rules and follow the system.  But you must follow the system and the kids MUST execute..."-Coach Swanson
  • "...I immediately knew I had found what I was looking for with the simple GOOD GOD blocking rules and diagrams showing each play against 8 defensive formations.   I read everything and watched all the DVD's and couldn't wait for the season...I purchased the 46 Gambler system as well and fell in love with it...We followed both systems by the book and new we had something when we won our pre-season Jamboree game 30 to 0.  We finished the season 8-1 making it to the Toy Bowl our league Championship game where we met a team that was undefeated for 2 years and really just more athletic than us from top to bottom...We had a great season making a 180 Degree turn around but most of all the kids loved the system and playing "Smashmouth" football.  I can't say enough about your systems.  They are so detailed in the blocking schemes, drills, practice schedules and how to keep defenders in conflict.  The Practice and Drills manual was awesome...I just wanted to personally Thank You for helping get our program back on the right track!!  Our coaches, parents, athletic department and most of all the kids just had fun this season.  What a difference a year makes!!! (and a new system)."-Coach Bennett
  • "Coach let me tell you 1st of all that i am a big fan of yours. I found the 46 gambler a few years back and found it to be an amazing scheme for youth football...The gambler defense only gave up 80 points in 9 games. We scored 6 TD's on defense averaged 5 sacks a game... I was proud of what the Gambler helped my kids accomplish."-Coach Serling
  • "Coach, I just want to thank you for the outstanding material.  I purchased your practice manual, your DVD’s and your playbook and have to say they are the best and easiest to understand I have seen yet...Your blocking rules made it so easy for my kids to understand.  I passed the program to one of our 3rd and 4th grade coaches who also ran the double wing in the past and using your rules he went 5 wins 0 losses and 1 tie..." -Coach Bomay
  •
  • "I want to thank you for creating the GOOD/GOD system for the DW offense...The switch to the DW this spring was the best move for our program.  It made our kids tougher, brought the team closer, and it showed the community we could play at the class A level."-Coach Farnham
  • " Just wanted you to know that we are having great success with the Gambler this year.  We have only given up 4 scores and 2 of those were the first game. Thanks again for the information." -Coach Ranson
  • "...Your practice manual is the single best resource for a double wing youth coach. I have also viewed your Highlights video (and much of your power, wedge, and counter instruction video sections) about 1,000 times. I would gladly recommend your products to anyone." -Coach Stolfi
  • "Just read through the entire Calande DW drills manual... AWESOME!! Don't know how I coached without it."

  • "The beast is great, I toyed with the idea for a while and when DWI 2 came out with more info it pushed me over the edge. We ran it as a supplement to our base DW, saved it for our regional playoff games and it payed big dividends. You gotta love that smashmouth football."- Coach Gelb

  • "Coach

My team of 13-15 year olds played against our reigning league champion tonight, and we won 33-10. This is the first loss that they have had in 2 years, and it was totally unexpected because they are bigger and faster than last season. I would like you to know that we bought into the idea of double wing offence last winter and decided to install your particular version, complete with the GOOD-GOD system. It is my feeling that the score would likely have been reversed if we had maintained the standard system that we have been using since I began coaching (23 years ago).

Our core is Power, Wedge, Counter, Counter Trap and Sweep. Power and Wedge were called most often, but several important 10-20 yard gains came from the Counter and Counter Trap. Sweep was only called a few times in order to keep them honest. We will maintain this core and eventually supplement it with the addition of 4 or 5 plays.

By the 4th quarter, they were attacking my offensive linemen in different ways. Sometimes they would cut my guys. Along with a cut usually came a hold and a pull to the ground. This hurt the Wedge, but didn’t really hurt some of the other plays as much. I did have my center go down after a hit to his knee, but he says he’ll be O.K. for the next game.

I have been a follower of your War Room (I am signed in there as *********), and have recently become a follower of the Double Wing For Dummies site as well.

I suppose that this message is mostly to thank you, and to let you know that there were 53 happy young boys in our dressing room tonight. I would have bet against this just six months ago."-Coach Chris

  • "Coach,
I got my stuff last night. Incredible. You are a God-send. We got home from my son's basketball game about 9 P.M. and I put it in after watching part of it after school. My son was going to sleep on our huge bean bag in the living room (likes that more than his bed) and I said: "this guy on here is incredible, I think he's going to help us win a state championship." My son just smiled. Thaks Coach for all you do.

  • "Hi Coach,...I just wanted to say thank you as we are looking to go 8-0 in our division and be the first Raider team to win our division and this is all thanks to your system...Coach Johnson Newcastle Raiders Head Coach"

  • "Hi Coach,
As you may recall, I purchased all of your video's and books back in the spring. I implemented the DW with a group of 30 Pewee Pop Warner (10-12 year olds) kids that won 1 game last year. I was a college QB and it was my first year coaching, so I was looking for a vanilla system would allow me to set up plays and keep defenses guessing. The great power and misdirection of the DW was a perfect fit and I'm sold based on our results.
We just won our first playoff game 32-0, and are currently 9-0 with 265 points scored. We could have scored many, many more points and only once was I able to keep scoring, a 54-19 win where we scored on all 7 possessions, 3 times with our 2nd & 3rd Offense.
We play a powerhouse XXXXX team on Sunday for the league Championship, but I like our chances.
Just had to share this with you as this offense you love, has turned a bunch of heads in our program. I'll shoot you a message after this weekend.
    Regards,
    Coach S"

  • "I hope your season went well this year.
We run the DW at the 9 year old level and won the State Championship this year. Vital stats:
Ute football Conference (Utah) state champions Gremlins (8-9) goes to the Riverton Silverwolves.
    Head Coach/O Coordinator: Glen Page.
    X weight is 76 pounds.
Calande’s DW offense rolled up 4 TDs per game on average while completely controlling the clock and the tempo.
Our record was 10-1. We avenged our only loss of the season (6-20) in the Championship game.
The team we beat had two 190 pound d tackles (yes, 9 year olds) in a 4/5 tech. We had 120 pound G/Ts and handled them with G.O.O.D/G.O.D and they also had a super stud Mike LB who would blitz us pull side to make the tackle from the backside. We handled him with Domino. They beat us in the regular season because of the back side mike blitz. They destroyed everyone else all year until the Championship against us.
7-7 going into Overtime. 4 Overtimes later, it’s 15-15 and we have 4th/Goal from the 5. 925 counter punches it in with the wb reaching the ball out across the goal line, making it by inches. That’s game, as we had already stopped them. 21-15 final.
Love the DW, your material is great stuff. And YES, 8-9 year olds can DO this stuff and do it really well.
    Regards,
    Derek"

  • "Coach Steve;
I’m back this year as OC for a first-year-tackle Team of 4th Graders (all played Flag Football last season) and, of course, I’m running the Calande DW. We are in an 11-team League here in Oklahoma City area, and finished atop the League Standings at 10-0. This gives us the #1 Seed for the League Playoffs starting this week.
The kids have really picked up the GOOD/GOD Blocking scheme well, naturally we are pulling both the backside Guard and Tackle quite successfully, and we are averaging 4 TD’s per game (8-minute quarters go pretty fast). We could have been scoring more, but the Head Coach believes in letting the MPP’s play quite a bit on Offense as well as on Defense. We have used the Beast for Extra Points, and have now expanded the formation to use a little in the middle of the field also.
Our team’s website is coltsfb.com. Check out my Bio under the “Coaches Tab”. You’re mentioned in it.
Love the DWI Magazine. Can’t wait for Issue # 3 to come out.
    Good luck on your season.
    Coach Stevens"

  • Coach Calande has a comprehensive set of materials that will guide a coach interested in implementing the Double Wing. From exact blocking rules to footwork of Wingbacks and Quarterbacks, there is no doubt how to guide players in order to excel. I came to Coach Clande’s site and purchased his materials because our team needed an offense that could keep our undermanned team in every game while providing a scheme that enables us to teach proper fundamental skills. I think anyone that purchases Coach Calande’s materials will be impressed with the breath and depth information provided and will be able to properly teach assistant coaches and players how to run the Double Wing.” Greg Taylor

  • "We just finished a truly fantastic season culminating with a Div 1 JPW National Championship at Walt Disney World. We finished the season 15-0 in which we scored a total of 530 pts running the Calande DW and giving up only 85 pts with the 46 Gambler. In the 3 games we played at Nationals. the scores were 42-12; 34-0; and 39-6 (in which they scored the 6 on a kickoff return). The Powers, the Cutback, and the Wedge were all unstoppable.

I cannot thank you enough for everything I have learned from you and the things that you do. I first started running the Doublewing 7 yrs ago learning Coach Wyatt's system. But since going to the Good/God system along with the FB lead blocking on most plays, the pure power of the DW just increased exponentially. The Cutback by far was our favorite play to run.

Our offense got all the glory as our defense would quietly game by game shutout our opponents. Because we went into the "slaughter" every game except 1, most of the points that we gave up were because we had 2nd and 3rd string players in the game on defense. Our 1st team defense only gave up a total of 39 pts all season.

It was truly a magical season and we give you Coach Calande alot of the credit. We are planning on attending your clinic next year and finally meeting you in person.

Thank you again, Coach Tracy Black  - Jaguars JPW"

  •  "The American River Jr. Raiders (6-8 year olds) beat a very solid Nevada Union Jr. Miners team 28-0 on Saturday using Steve's DW system. We had over 250 yards of rushing, and the score was two muffed hand offs and one stumble on an interception from being 40 something to zip.

    What did we run?

    Ray 34 Power (1 td)

    Ray 25 Counter (3 tds)

    41 Wedge

Our opponent came to our field hooting and really making noise...their defense took the field for the first series growling, jumping around, etc. My offense turned and looked at me and I just shrugged my shoulders and said, "whatevvvvvver? Ray 34 Power." My wingback broke through a gaping hole at four hole and broke outside. 60 yards later he had scored on the first play of the game. From that point on, the growling amazingly disappeared, as did the visitor enthusiasm. It also put the fear of God into them everytime they saw my 3 WB going in motion...hence the counter play was wide open. They had bigger kids, but frankly, when we were stopped, we stopped ourselves. This offense put so much pressure on their offense that it seemed like they were on the field most of the game. We had no sustained drives because we kept breaking off long runs. Nice problem to have. Steve, I'm grinning ear to ear!"- fiamike

  • Steve,
Just wanted to let you know I received your drill manual yesterday. I was
up until 1:00 am reading through it. I give it 5 stars. Tons of great
stuff in th ere even for a SW guy like me. I'm thinking about going to
balanced line SW next season with your GOOD/GOD system so these drills will
come in handy. Despite our success on offense this past season using track
blocking, we struggled at times off-tackle due to stud DT's swimming over
our angle blocks. I think we'll have more success if we can double team.
Anyway, great job on the manual.
     Happy Holidays,
    Mark

  • "Steve.. our staff came to your clinic this pre season and it was a real pleasure to meet you. I just want to update you on our season. Our staff took a team of Junior Pee Wees who last year never won a game last season and just finished this regular season with a 5 game winning streak while defeating the previous league champ who has been undefeated for three straight years. Our record was 5-3. We believed in the Good-God system and committed to it.. our start was three straight losses but were in every game till the final whistle. By the third game we have installed the complete core.... You could see the kids turning the corner in game 3 when we had the winning TD called back for a penalty, but the kids knew then we could power and pain anyone.

    Our Points of the season.

NO doubt of offense power... pound the football until submission.
Our kids learn to hit and hit and hit.... after a game you will know you have played us
The 46 defense kept us in all games... we can only get better with this.. it allows for quick adjustments due to the kids only having to learn one spot on D.
The Core has to be installed to get the full benefit of this offense.. you need to keep them honest with the counters and cutbacks... which in our case became our Biggest TD runs of the season..

Thanks again Steve!!! we will be playing in some bowl games over the next couple of weeks.... The feeling is amazing when I hear other coaches... frustrated.... talking on how to stop us.... we will get a DVD out to you to see the kids.. THANKS... Frank"

  • "I want to thank you for your materials on the DW & 46 Gambler as well as the forum and clinic time this season. The HC and I made such an impact with bringing a winning attitude, a solid system on both sides of the ball which I worked hard not to let anyone change the core of the system. The opportunity this season to coach on the 9th grade level was priceless. I brought a system in and made sure we ran it the way it should be run. I am happy about that. The kids also have changed in the way they are perceived in school, in class and on the field. The teachers on staff are happy that the two of us made such an impression that the kids are doing better in school. This season was a win win situation, and I am glad I took it. However, we created such a buzz in the district that we just had two forfeits in one week. This brings our record to 7-0-1. This all started two weeks ago when we beat one of best schools in the Del Val league whose feeder program is just great. The HS for Interboro has won year after year Del Val championships. Their 9th grade team was just as good. After beating them the calls started coming in to cancel 2 out of the 3 games left for the season. The problem is what are those guys doing meaning the way we run the Calande Style DW. They can't stop Ray 34 Power so, lets shift over our defenders to stop them. Look he's coming but he cutback .The Ray 35 Counter Cutback is lethal. We just gave the teams fits immediately, and I am sure when they play our new 9th grade team next season they will try to prepare for us. We still have one game left on Thursday , Nov.16th vs O'Hara, and I hope we continue our winning ways.
Just saying thanks, for helping a student of the game.
I will let you know how things go next week in our final game.

P.S. I just can't get over the impact we made in such a short time frame"-Coach Brooks

  • "Guys,
I ordered Coach Calande's 4 DVD DW SYSTEM and DW PLAYBOOK/ MANUAL and just let me say that I was thoroughly impressed. The manual is a step by step dream on how to implement this system. It tells you everything you need to know, from what kind of players to look for at each position, what plays to teach first, CORE, and how each play is ran. What each player does on each play is also covered against several different defensive looks. The blocking rules will be so easy to teach and work against all defensive fronts. Can't ask for more than that.
The DVDS are no less impressive. He breaks down all the CORE plays and others. It offers a great visual aid to the playbook/manual.
And the highlight DVD, don't get me started, is the best. I have watched it over and over. The system really is a work of art.
If you are new to THE DW, and looking for help on getting started, I do believe that Coach Calande's system will not only be easy to teach but highly effective. Even if you run a different type of DW, I'm sure you will like what he does and his philosophy.
    Thanks Coach!! "- Coach Hartman
  • "Steve, Just wanted to give you an update as to our season to date:we just won the Superbowl for CMYFCC at the JPW division. We are 12 - 0 and will move on to the regionals this coming weekend. We run the DW and Bull, Bear and Bison on offense and the 46 gambler on Defense. We have scored 352 points and given up 18 on the season. Thank you for all your coaching materials as they have given me the tools to teach myself along with my coaches and players.-Lance"
  • "Im not usually a talker but thanks is in order . I ORDERED CALANDE'S TAPES AND BOOKS ON OFFENSE AND DEFENSE AND I HAVE TO SAY THANKS BECAUSE AFTER 3 YEARS AND 3 LOOSING SEASONS MY TEAM IS NOW LOOKING AT WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP THANKS TO THE DW AND THE 46 GAM. WE AVERAGE 30 POINTS A GAME AND THE DEFENSE HAS ONLY GAVE UP 3 TD'S ALL SEASON. SO AGAIN THANKS FROM COACH MOYA DOWN IN BAKERSFIED CALIFORNIA GO (GEYF) FAR EAST TITANS."
  • "Hello Coach, We just finished our 2nd upset in a row in the playoffs and play next week for the all the chips…We were up against a bigger team that was just as fast and were down 6-0 at half. In the 2nd half I ran 34 and 25 power, Wedge, and 325 counter XX…that’s it…and we scored twice and won 12-6. I was standing there at half thinking about what I read in your 2005 playbook…I’m not going to look back at tonight and wish I had ran the power more. There is a group of boys out here that get to play for a championship on the big stage that run nothing but your core plays.Thank you for all your work and your commitment to youth football.Coach Craig"
  • "I coach a team of 26 players with a 160lb. weight limit (8th graders). 19 of them have never played football before. Installed Calande DW & 46 G at start of year. Went 0-2 and then 5-0. Sewed up second place in division and playoff spot. After second game the light bulb has went on and we have outscored opponents 126-34. Defense has given up only 1 touchdown in each of last 5 games. Should end season at 6-2 headed into playoffs.

Installed Steves stuff right from his videos and playbooks/practice manuals with only two full time coaches.

Thanks Steve for all the help and great tools.-Don

P.S. The teams we play have been playing together any where from 2 to 4 years. The DW and 46G are the great equalizer."

  • "46 gambler D- 6 count'em 6 shutouts... 200 yards given up on the season ...awesome system for all age groups." -Browns Coach

  • "This is our second year of running Calande style DW.I ran it last year with my third and fourth grade team, and I moved up to our senior team this year to run it.Our results have been great. The third and fourth grade team went 11-0 last year running DW and the base 46.This year they are 9-0 running DW.Our senior team(5&6 grade) stands at 10-0 at this point running DW and 46.Both teams are doing great ! I can not thank Coach Calande and all of you that post on this board enough. The only thing that has been any diffrent for us this year was a name change(we were Titans last year,so to fit in with the rest of the teams in the county are school board bought us all new uniforms for changing to Raiders). So thank you all again and I hope you are having great seasons as well."-Coach Lewis

  • "We won today handily, 34-0.  The 46 Gambler was just devastating with three picks, multiple forced fumbles, and multiple QB sacks.  I think the opposition got two first downs. The DW was great we ran powers, wedge and some traps.  That is all.  Our Lee 45 power scored 4 times and our Ray 20 Wedge scored once.  Set-up by a nice long counter Trap.  We start the playoffs next week.  Everything else was just a formality.Josh"

  • "Hey everyone.Posted a 19-7 win with the DW and 46G combo today. Played the only other team in our league that was undefeated coming into the game. They were averaging 30 points a game. They scored on their very first play, a 65 yard off tackle play they blocked very well and caught us napping I guess. After that, we held them to zero points the rest of the day.We scored on our first play as well, a BB Wedge, and I thought it was going to be a shootout. They stacked the outside to stop our powers, counters and sweeps, so when we needed a play, we wedged them. All three scores were with BB Wedge.Through five games, the 46G has given up thirteen points, while our DW has scored 121 points. We play one more explosive offensive team before playoffs and if we get by them, I believe we will enter the playoffs undefeated. I also feel we will shutout our opponents in the rest of our games if they continue to play the 46G soundly. This was a big win for us as it shut up any of the doubters that said we hadn't played anyone yet. Now, we are all alone at 5-0 in our league. It feels good :)

  • "Coaches--I just wanted to let everyone know(especially Coach Calande) that I previously had purchased all of Wyatts materials and Every one of Murphy's videos. I just couldnt get enough of Murph's stuff. Love that Feller. Think his stuff is Awesome. Very Informational and Easy to understand. After starting out 2-0 this season we fell into a slump a got skunked for 2 games in a row. Something I was never used to in HS or Youth. I stayed up nights reviewing game tape and then going back over Murph's stuff. I just felt I needed something or someone elses input and after reading a few of your guy's responses I went ahead a purchased Calande's Smashmouth Package.

Guys alls I can say is WOW and HOLYSH*T. I was able to take all of Steves ideas and implement them with Murphs to make a much stronger and easier system for my Coaches and kids. Calande's discussed and answered every little question I had. Any wondering of how exactly the plays should look-I know now. Any wondering of Footwork for any position-I know now. His stuff was EXCELLENT!!!! Videos were nothing pretty just getting right to the point of good ol X's and O's the way most Coaches want them. I dont need all the fancy crap. Thats why I love Murph's as well. Also Coaches you have got to get his Coaching Manual and his Practice and Drill Manual, now these are done better than ANY I have ever purchased. Lastly guys I changed the kids to the G.O.O.D G.O.D system on the early afternoon before the game. Had a little 2 hour meeting with the starters and put it in. Its that easy, and my kids loved it.

And I just wanted to let everyone know we went out and got the job done 21-0, Had 1score called back. My kids wanted to make it alot more but the opposing Coach was sorta a friend.

    Steve-YOU DA MAN!!"-Coach Hare

  • "Hi Steve,
Thanks for the drill manual, its amazing. To anyone who is mulling over buying
this, JUST DO IT!! It will revolutionise the drills and the mentality and
practice time. I can't hype this thing enough"- Ben

  • "Steve,

I just wanted thank you for all the hard work you do putting this information together.

Our first game was against a push over opponent.

The first five offensive downs went like this:

Ray 34 power - touch down!

    Ray 34 power – touch down #2

Lee 25 power – 3 yard gain (left side of the line does not pull as well yet)

    Lee 25 power – touch down #3

Ray 34 power (different player at wing) touch down #4

After that we practiced our trap plays mostly (32 point rule and I always save one for the defense just in case).  We ran a couple 234’s and 325’s of which most would have gone for TD’s had we not run out of bounds.

The best part was watching the game tape of 4 guys chasing my #3 wing and 3 guys chasing my #2 wing on the XX Wedge

Our Gambler defense held them to negative yards for the game with one 1st down and we finished 26-0

Our second opponent was much tougher and cheated to our right side to try and stop the 34 but we chewed away at them with 25’s, cutback’s, and 325’s. We have not perfected the wedge yet but we ran that a few times as well.

We had a few breakdowns on defense (another Dwing team) but our speed at linebacker and corner kept them from getting very far.  If you haven’t heard from my defensive coordinator Ryan Worthington yet looking for some tips you will soon enough.

Anyway game two still went pretty well at 22-0

We still have a lot to work on but as promised I will send you a DVD of game 3 which is this coming weekend.  They are undefeated as well so it should be a great one to watch.

    Talk to you soon"-Coach Morgan

With your offense we won our first game since 2002, broke a 24 game loosing streak!!!! 58-50.  Right now we are the number 1 offense in the SECTION 3 here in New York.  We have had some great runningbacks from this area, go pro or D1, Mike Hart(michigan) Dorsey levens(greenbay) Brian Leonard(rutgers heisman hopeful )  Thanks for your offense, if there is any little tips or tricks please send them , i have bought just about all of your products.
    thanks

  • "i took on steve's DW this year, and i was not sure how many plays i would get in before the first game that were able to be run correctly. but after two weeks we could play today with lee, ray powers, counter cutback, counter xx, wedge, sweeps, and i still have one week left...so for anyone considering this offense, although it's a little late to start now, get the tapes, books, and drills, and study, study, study. believe in it, and committ to it, it's a hell of a system!"-Mike

  • "Coach,We ran your 46 Gambler last year by using the DVD and power point presentation (downloaded from online).  We bought the manual last week.  (Thanks for the quick shipment).  What great information!  It is a perfect compliment to the DVD and power point presentation.  We had our first practice using technique info for DT's and Nick last night.  Two boys came off the field and said to their parents, "we learned really good stuff tonight". Thanks a lot."- Coach

  • "Coach, we are 2-0 since installing your 46 Defense this season....2 shut outs and maybe 3 total first downs combined in both games.....42-0 in the first and 40-0 in the second game....Thanks for the insight....Thanks..Mark."

  • "Coach, I ordered your material last december or January.  I got really excited about the system.  Started sharing with my coaching staff (11-12 yr olds in Tennessee).  Finally, I stated that this was the system that we are running and that you are either in or out. I divided the coaching staff with positions and material on how to coach.  Everyone bought into the system and organization. We dominated our first scrimmage.  Won our Jamboree 27-13 playing all 31 players for more than a quarter with a continuous clock.  Had our first game this past Saturday and won the game 34-0.  I have a red offense (1st) and a blue (2nd).  I have the ability to platoon with little let down.  At this game 3 of my starting lineman were sick or hurt and were unable to play so 3 of my blue offense lineman had to step up.  At the end of the 1st quarter we had scored 3 td.  I put my blue offense in for the second qtr and they scored 2 td. Then I was able to substitute my remaining roster which I guess what you could call my 3rd string offense.  I saw some positive things from these guys.  We rushed for over 250 yds with 4 different running backs scoring.I love this offense.  We still have a lot of work to do as coaches but the early success has been great.  I have had parents make statements like "coach I wasn't sure that offense would work."Ha Ha. I also want to let you know our 46 Gambler did not allow a first down or positive total yards for the first half.  2nd and 3rd string played most of the 2nd half.It has been tough to organize and coach up but practices are becoming very aggressive and competitive between 1st and 2nd strings.Again thanks for your commitment and thanks to all the other coaches for their insight. Robb"

  • "Coach Calande,I'm a first year 46 Gambler coach, having used the 4-3 with great success in previous years with 10,11,12 yr olds.I purchased your 46 Gambler playbook and DVD's after a fellow coach told me about your stuff.  I spent all winter and spring studying and pouring over your information. I began teaching the 46 Gambler to my team as soon as we completed the draft, starting with the basics, alignments, basic drills and reads.I've had trouble finding a Mike linebacker type to do the job properly (my player drafted for that position has not shown an interest in putting any effort into improving, so he's out of a job), but do have  complete studs at Will, Fred, Nose Tackle and two DE's that are tough to beat.We opened our season this past weekend against one of our division powerhouses. We beat them 6-0 in a total knife fight.  Every play was a battle.  Our FB (Will LB) had 16 carries for 77 yds (4.8ypc), mostly running 22 dives, right over my RG (NT).The 46 Gambler was a success, shutting down their offense, with the exception of a couple of plays where one of my DE's either turned his shoulders in and got kicked out or let himself get hooked.  The NT,DT were so solid they couldnt run up the middle as my LB's were free to roam and bring the big hits. They broke a play off my DE, took it down to the 4 yd line before we were able to knock the guy out of bounds.  1st and goal from the 4.  Tough spot to be in.  I called a time out to slow things down a little. We ran a MAX call 4 times in a row and totally stuffed the offense.  After that it was run the ball up the middle and burn the clock. We have another coach in our program running the 46 also.  They too won this weekend. Thanks for putting this awesome package together, we are having alot of fun with it so far.Coach Asquini"

  • "I thought I would share my success of my team since we have now been involved in a scrimmage and have played our first game. At the scrimmage, the 46 Gambler shut everyone down. We scrimmaged two teams and both never came close to scoring. One of the teams had negative yardage while the other team had a run of about ten yards because my right DE was reached, other than that one play they pretty well shut them down all day. Last week was our first game and we won it 36-0. They never gained a yard and finished with -24 rushing on the day. I had fixed the end getting reached from the scrimmage and he handled any "C.R.A.B.S" play that came his way. As for offense, I am running the DW with GOD blocking rules. We ran a total of 13 offensive plays on the day counting extra point attempts!! Now this was a very poorly coached team, but to say the DW was unstoppable on this day would be an understatement!! We play our next game in two weeks and I cannot wait. I think we are going to do really well this year. I appreciate your help, especially with the 46 Gambler and what few questions I have had concerning the defense. Thanks again."- Freddy

  • ""Wow my kids surprise me every week. This week we hit the road and the boys made me so proud. We had a slow first quarter and then came the rain. I swear these kids love to play in the rain because they stepped it up again. About 2 minutes into the second we score on a five yard 34 power and it was all power. We came back and recovered the onside kick and after hitting them with the Lee 25 three times in a row we scored on a Ray 35 cut back* It was great* ..."-Derrick

  • "We had our first game tonight and did very well. This is not one of the better teams in our league but I'll take it. We won 25 - 0 and the Gambler would have won it 7 - 0 without the offense. We had 3 fumble recoveries (forced!), quite a few sacks, 2 pics and 3 blocked punts one of which we ran back for a TD. - R "

  • "Coach Calande,Thank you for all your help. Our first scrimmage went well. My team scored 4 times, and we would have scored 5, but I made a mistake. This was the first year we scored on offense before the third week of the season. Thank you for helping my staff and I learn the double wing. I just ordered your new drills manual. Please send them to us as fast as you can.  Thanks again,Head Coach XXXXX Fighting Titans"

  • "I just received my copy of Steve Calande's Practice and Drills Manual. All I can say is, "Wow!" It's about 170 pages long and it is an unbelievable collection of drills and coaching resources. I have purchased several book on drills at various bookstores in the past, but they pale in comparison to Steve's guide. I have a million things to get done this afternoon, but they can all wait. Time to hunker down with a cup of joe and get some new drills for tonight's practice! Thanks Steve!!!"- fiamike

  • "I went ahead and bought your stuff.  I put in a watered down version very quickly and it is gold for us right now.  When I heard about the manual I instantly ordered it. I recieved it yesterday and have read it cover to cover.  All I have to say is if you want to run this offense right BUY this manual.  It is an AWESOME resource. This manual is a MUST HAVE.  Great job Steve. " Drew

  • "I just wanted you to know that the 46 Gambler manual is truly awesome and so full of info. Thank you for everything you do"  -Coach Black

  • "Coach Calande is truely a Markham kind of coach. I have watched his Dvd's and he has alot of Coach Markhams attitude and love for the system and the game. He is very focused within his system and that is a sign of a great coach. Hell Just listening to him , you know he believes in his system. That is why I will implement the DW this coming up season at the Junior All-American level . Really love the blocking rules for the Power Plays. I played for Coach Markham at Colton in the 70's and I see alot of Coach Markham In Calande. He is going to carry the torch when Coach Markham Retires." -coach liles
  • "I thought the DVDs were excellent and so was the playbook. You put more detail
and explanation in this volumn than I've seen in other DW systems. Well done! We
are looking forward to implementing your system this fall out here in
    Sacramento.
    Thanks Coach Calande!
    coach Burgess"
  • "Coach,I have through your first video and I am very impressed.  Last year we ran DW using more wyatt terminology, but I think your numbering system is highly logical and your blocking schemes hit at the root of why you would want doubles at the POA.  The backside corner, though important, can be somethat unaccounted for to get more bodies to the playside POA.I will have some constructive questions when I have finished watching and writing down your commentary word for word...... my questions will be more for how to teach it...thanks for this great product."-TG

  • "Coach Calande--I got your offensive and defensive DVDs and playbook and it definitely helped us as we won my second championship as a head coach in 3 years, this year at the 9 - 10 year old level in a competitive park league in Atlanta (that uses a free-market draft). We scored 49 TDs with only 4 offensive TDs scored against us.Your system helped refine my more Wyatt based DW, we loved the cutback plays and other adjustments, and also our defense improved greatly with principles from the Gambler 46. We also innovated on some things you and others may like to see and that I haven't really seen very many people do much -- like we added a couple of incredibly mindblowing counter shovel passes (just a low risk shovel pass off of the counter left or right) that would routinely break for long runs and we also ran a wicked DW option (QB-wing sprint out with a called pass option at times). We had a professional videograher at all games, so our game film DVDs almost look as good as the NFL on Fox. I'd like to send you a highlight DVD (or season games) as a thank you if I can get your address."--Dan

  • "Coach
I got the stuff Saturday. Read through the book and Sunday I began to go through the video with the book in hand. I did not get as much done as I wanted to because the wife wanted US to go Christmas shopping. Oh well. However, the blocking scheme is great. I also had my 12 and 11 year old boys watch with me to see how much info that they would pick up. At first I thought they may not understand it quickly. Surprisingly, they picked up the G.O.O.D/G.O.D rather quickly. Great job and I am glad I took your advice on your material. The terminology and some of the schemes is very close to our high school team which will keep me in the good graces with the HC....After watching your Highlights DVD which was tremendous. I have become interested in your 46 gambler. your kids were very aggressive and seemed to be in the right place at the right time. I know this was a highlight film but man it was impressive."-
    Cavalier 55

  • "Hello Coach. I ran the DW for the first time this year and can tell you Steve Calande's version of the DW is awesome. I would highly recommend all of his material. He uses a "conventional" numbering system with line blocking rules so everyone knows what they are to do on every play. I coached 11-12 yr. olds and they picked up the system very fast, again coach, I recommend Calande's version and material, you will not regret it."- Blownonfuel
  • "...I've been a Wyatt guy for years, and while I stand by that system, the Calande blocking rules made it MUCH easier to fill holes. I even put a WB on the line, and he knew exactly who he was suposed to block."- SCWinger
  • "Coach,
I received your DVD set and playbook today.I am totally impressed with your Knowledge of the DW, and the Good/God system you use for your blocking schemes. Very simple to learn and easy to follow. The highlight DVD is outstanding. I will be using your system next season for 11/12 yr olds. I see your in the running for Head coaching position. You are qualified enough even without HC varsity experience. Good luck coach, were pulling for you."-Mike

  • "Coach:
Materials are extreme.  It's obvious that football is your passion!  I got pumped just reading it...We finished state championship yestrday, Nov 12 and
squared the record  with the only blemish, from game 1,  on our record.  12-1 ain't bad... It's good to be champs! Each game we were always the smallest. Our team really learned this year it's not how big you are... it's how big you play...Thanks again for all the materials on the DW and 46.  Looking forward to more materials in the future."-Coach Holland
  • "hey coach,I am so fired up right now. I have read your manual 4-5 times and watched your dvd's. I just got off the phone with my assistants. We are going to have meetings right after the holiday to prepare for next year. Your stuff is great and your blocking system is incredible. I just got finished watching your highlight film again and I am completely sold and fired up. I may not have a highlight right now of the sweep but I will next year that is if they can stop my power, trap and counter. Thanks again coach for your dedication to a great game.
Also, from here I am going to your website to get your 46 gambler and give to my DC. Those kids get after the football."-Robb

  • "I've read your playbook about 3 times and still need to look at those cd's. Steve your blocking scheme is so easy a team could easily get away with just the 5 core plays. But for me counter cutback was my big play this year so I need six plays. Or as my defensive coordinator called it, "The counter with Power". -Coach B
  • "Hey Steve,Needless to say, your defensive manual helped out a great deal. In our last game, our defense look more like a gambler style 46.  I do have some terminology differences, but the techniques and base alignment is all the same. We played a tough team that usually moves the ball off-tackle against everyone. When the dust settled, we held them to negative total yards, a saftey, and an interception. This was worse beaten they got all season, 32-0. Our eigth shutout of the season.  We finished #1 in offense and #1 and defense. So, we're in the league's championship - T"
  • "Steve,
We have had 7 shutouts in 8 games. 3 negative net yardage games. 2 games
allowing 0 first downs and several with only 1 first down. Allowed 1 TD. 6
interceptions (includind 1 by NICK) 1 returned for TD and three safeties. Many
fumbles recovered and many more forced. Don't get me started on the DW, that is
even better. Playing Saturday for the Jr. Pee Wee Championship. Thanks for all
    your advice this year"-MCAP16
  • "We finished are season today with a 32-0 win!I am so proud of my kids, they worked hard and it showed on game days.I would like to send out a big thank you to Coach Calande for making his offense available to us.Coach Calande's DW system worked great for us all year.I also would like to thank all the other coaches who share information with us all on this board.Thank you all for helping us have a great year....Thanks again! 11-0 season."-Coach Lewis
  • "Hey Steve,
I went ahead and order your manual this morning. I already had the GAMBLER II  video. Our 46 is slowing looking like the 46 you keep decribing in your post. I am loving the versatility the 46 is giving us over the 6-5. This year's team is not as athletic as the unscored upon team, but we have on giving up 6 points (my fault) and about 15 first downs. Out of six games that is not bad. With your manual, I hope to get better at coaching our defensive coaches. Thanks for making your ideas available. Take care,Tray, Charlotte, NC"
  • Another Dw/Gambler victory- Final: 33-0 -- "I did EVERYTHING I could to keep it that low, including kneeling away the last 2 minutes at their 10 yard line. We had a total 24 plays on offense, for 218 yards (1 for 2 passing for 5 yards). The starting offense was 11/133 with 2 TDs and the SECOND team offense was 13/85 with 2 TDs. Again, the CalandeWedge was unstoppable, accounting for 110 yards and 3 TDs.We missed on the first PAT kick (to encourage kicking in the middle school, they give 2 for kicking the PAT, 1 for touchdown on the PAT). After that, I let subs run 'em in. One of my goals is to let everyone run the ball at least once, and my current favorite PAT is the beast blast with the first team blocking for a tiny sub. We were 3/4 letting 3 different subs run behind the first team blockers on the PAT (the only miss was a dropped snap).

    DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

Once again, the 46 Gambler totally trashed the other team. They ran 18 plays (not counting punts) for a net NEGATIVE 20 yards. We recovered 4 fumbles, returned one for a TD. Passing, they were 0/3 and we got 1 INT (with my complete 2nd defense no less).Their possessions were (plays/yards): 3/2 (punt), 3/4 (fumble), 3/-7 (punt), 3/-6 (fumble - returned 40 yards for TD), 1/0 (fumble), 2/0 (int), 3/-13 (fumble). My starting offense ran ONE play in the entire second half. The starting defense only played the first series of the second half. I really need to get my starters more work, but I can't do it without really running up the score. This team was a good bit bigger than us, but we brought the hammer"- SCWinger

  • "FYI:  we're 10-1 (8th & 9th grade)  and play in the championship Nov 12th running DW and 46.  You're DVD's really helped.  I'm planning on picking up the books once the season is over.  Regards,ARKONA Richard C. Holland"

  • "Coach Steve:Just wanted to tell you my kids (and the Double Wing) survived our first 10-man line defense last night,We played the team in our league that was 4-1 and tied with us for 2nd Place going into the game. After we ripped off 3 TD’s in the 1st Half, they came out the 2nd Half in a 10-1 defense, which only told me they were desperate and had no other choice but to try to stop us by loading up the middle, plus 2 guys outside our TE’s, with everybody crashing every play. After stuffing us the 1st series with their “surprise” D, I nailed them from then on with Counter Cutback, Traps, and the Counter scored twice. The DOG Plays, with End over killed that 10-1, and also burned their lone Safety with the Ray Brown 984 Pass to the TE, who was 15 yds behind the Safety, He rumbled for 45 yds. until caught from behind on the 5 yd. line.  One Power and One Trap later we were in  Final Score:   46-18  (Did I mention I love this Offense?)." Coach Stevens

  • "Coach Steve:We have smoked two more opponents since my last update a couple of weeks ago.Won last week 47-14 and last night 49-20. After the game last night, the opposing coach said that our “frigging offense” is darn near unstoppable. I told him it was designed to be! We’re now 8-1 and have locked up 2nd Place in the 11-Team League. You can still go to www.bulldogs.com to see season review (except my daughter hasn’t had a chance to post last night’s score yet.  In the Playoffs in two weeks, we will be seeded 2nd, in the opposite bracket from defending champs to whom we lost first, and only, game. Looking forward to seeing them again in the Playoff Finals. I have added the 28 Sweep WB Pass, that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I was modeling after the old Oklahoma University Split-T halfback passes. It has been a roaring success so far, completing 5 out of 7 for 2 TD’s, 2 Extra Points (which count for 2 pts) and a bunch of yards. The 2 incompletions were on the money, but dropped by my soccer star sprint champ WB. I teased him about soccer being bad for him since he can’t use his hands in that “European” sport. You might consider adding this to your arsenal of weapons in the future if you get a WB with a good arm, as it seems to be a relatively safe run/pass option, and whatever the Cornerback does is wrong. Good video example of this is the Owosso Trojan’s tape on Coach Weidner’s Doublewingonline website. That’s what triggered the idea for me to install the play since my LWB can probably throw better than my QB. Anyway, hope your job search is still going okay and you can land something soon. I still wish you could come down to the Dallas Symposium next Februrary; might lead to some job interviews here in the great Southwest. I understand about your wife, though. I trust she is still doing fine. More Later and thanks again for all your help! Coach George  P.S. Still looking forward to your “Blocking Manual” when you get time to finish it."

  • "Coach I hope you are doing good.I have not yet been able to get any decent film to send you,but with good practices and reviewing the tapes I purchased from you we have been able to post a 7-0 record at this point. We won our last game 30 -12.This offense with your blocking scheme has been awsome for us.Just wanted to say thanks again and I am still working on getting some film to send you."-Coach Lewis
  •
  •  "have now gone through all the other DVDs and I can't tell you how excited I am every time I see your system. I was not looking for "something that works", but I wanted a system, a philosophy that meshed with what I have to come to see as the necessary building blocks of a successful football team. And I think, no I know, I have found it both in your Double Wing and your 46 Gambler."- Ken

  • "I got your playbook today, the cover is hilarious!!!! I'm reading it now and this is the perfect companion to your dvd's. It's gold!!! GOD I LOVE THIS SYSTEM !!!"- Don Nash

  • "Thanks again to you Coach Calande the playbook and the DVD`s really explain the blocking that I was missing."- Coach Albert Hood, Countryside JR. Cougars

  • "I appreciate all the help from you this year.  We are now 6-0 and averaging 29 ppg with the DW (our league has a 28 point mercy rule, or it would be much higher).  We have given up 5 ppg on defense, which is great considering we gave up 25 in one game, 7 in another, and 0 for the other 4.  Other than those TD's, we have only allowed 3 first downs for the first 6 games.  "-unknown

  • "Two teams in our league currently run the DW and the Calande 46, and their combined points scored is 272 versus ZERO scored on the two teams. The 46 is very aggressive, gambler is the right name, but it throws youth offensives out of whack."-unknown

  • "hey steve, I just finished reviewing the video...Awesome job! I am a staff writer for GRIDIRON Coach magazine and I told the publisher last night that your tape was better than anything I got from Markham and Wyatt.  Thanks for a great tape..." -Stu Sklar

  • "It is full of good content and well organized...His love and enthusiasm for both football and the Double Wing Offense are apparent.  His knowledge is incredible.  Every play is drawn up on a white board against 4 defenses...this tape and honestly is the best double wing tape I have seen thus far.  If there is an draw back to the purchase it is that it is on VHS and can be grainy at times.  However, after watching it for 5 minutes you forget about it and sink into the lesson.  I almost like the rougher format, it plays right into the meat grinder style of the offense..." -Coach Weidner

  • "I want to say that I installed your wedge blocking style this week and it is absolutely the most kickass great thing I've gotten my hands on since I started running Dwing. Thank you" -Steve
  •
  • "Coach,I am mesmerized by the playbook (it's fantastic and the clinic DVD's).   I plan on attending one of your clinics next year for sure!  The material is great.Tom"
  • "Steve,Just watched your highlights dvd, man those little suckers played some bad@## football........... Your kids played hard, hit hard, and had a load of fun doing it...that means they have a great coach who they buy into...man you do a great job.....I'd have you on mine or I'd be on your staff anyday partner.....Now about that 46 defense.....Do you really have any other call other than SICKEM BOYS????? or do you just pretend to make other calls that really mean, Everybody goes this time, and Kill the man with the ball, or "kick@## on the snap" or what...man I was tryin to figure out calls and matchups but all I saw was "Sickem boys" every play....those kids were well taught, steve......very well and I love the way you emphasize "FINISH IT" in practice.....those boys finish everything the proper way..Great Job."-Charlie
  • "Calande Highlights! TWO THUMBS UP!
    By: John Carbon
Guys, Just got to finish the Steve Calande highlight DVD and all I can say is WOW. Not only does this highlight video get you pumped up for football season but the it also has a great soundtrack. Great work Steve. The Gambler defense made the other teams look like they had no idea what hit. I noticed that more than once the other teams QB would look torward his sideline with his hands at his sides and you could tell by his body laguage that frustration was starting to set in. LOL. Steve, your starting to look more and more like Markham. Thanks for the DVD." -John Carbon
  • "Hi Coach, Thanks for the quick response to the video order.  Ordered Friday and received it Sat.  Thanks also for the '04 highlights!  Those kids sure can wedge!  I'd love to come up and check out your program sometime.  Do you run summer practice at the Junior High level?  Your "D" looks awesome.  Would your 46 be difficult to teach 9-11 yr olds?  I've run Gap 8 with the younger kids with great success. It scares me a little with the older kids.  How do you feel about the Gap 8 at this level.  I should be loaded with talent and speed but will be lacking in size. Let me know what you think."-Mark
  • Practice Tape (not yet released) review- "Coach, I appreciate you still for sending it.  So far I've gotten thru about 5 hours of the tape and it will be very useful. The double team drills, trapping drills, King of the boards, bird dog drills/walk through's are all excellent. This tape is great because it lets a youth coach actually witness a successful JHS coach install the nuts and blots of this offense. It is helpful to actually see you explain the techniques, correct themistakes and rep the drills until the kids really start to "GET IT". I  been coaching mostly a Wyatt style double wing for 2 years but I do like the emphasis you have placed on power in your DW. I have a couple of questions. How often in a typical week did you do the double team drills, King of the boards and trapping drills with your O-line? I did those drills, but since we only practice 3 days a week, we usually didn't do them live more than once a week. It looks like these drills would toughen up the line real fast.I noticed that your O-line uses the combination hand punch/shoulder drive block methods. I have been teaching my kids the Wyatt, Ice picks shoulder blocking method. Which method do you think is more effective for 10-12 YO's who don't have much upper body strength.I have been using Wyatt's wedge blocking rules (NG or DG as focal point) Our wedge has been good but not great, your wedge looked great. Why do you believe that your method works so well against even front defenses and how often do you practice the wedge blocking? Thanks, Chris"
  •  " after seeing your stuff, my motto is "the beatings will continue until we play to the whistle like Calandes kids." Im seriously pissed."- anonymous
  • "Steve, your DVD was excellent. I thought I had it all with the Double Wing, until seeing your kids in action. The execution of your plays and the innovations and twists youv'e put into your offense made it a real treat to watch. We especiallly enjoyed your execution of the XX reverse, trap, your relentless toss play and of course your killer wedge with all the backfield action. We will definitley be putting in your counter cutback play and plan on blocking our reverses like you guys. Im very jealous of the hustle and play to the whistle attitude your kids had, well done."

  • "Steve,Just got it today. Damn...you guys were solid. #45 what a stone cold stud. Your XX Wedge was one of the best-looking wedge plays I've seen
and, as usual, your whole team looked so well coached. That defense, man...I'd kill for that kind of play. :)Thanks again."- Steve

  • "Coach, i received your highlight DVD today, watched it and it was great. Your team is so aggressive on defense and the Double Wing just runs people over. Great stuff, thanks "- Chris
  •
  • "I will say the DW Playbook is FREAKIN AWESOME.  I have some questions for you, but I will hold off for now it is kind of late."- Josh Sube

  • "I know I can teach the backs quickly, but my coach doesn't quite understand the concept of what we're doing yet... I gave him your Highlight film to watch- thing is is that he probably won't watch it- he has mine and hasn't watched it either... I told him that in order to get an understanding of what the "Toss" should look like he needed to watch your team run it- you run the best "toss" I've ever seen, by a mile!" - Jeff

  • "Steve, I've heard everyone say your 46 video is a must have, how do I go about sending you the cash?  By the way I received your clinic DVD and highlight video, awesome man, completely awesome.  If I can get my kids to run the wedge half as well as your kids do, I may not have to run another play : )  Your FB is a manchlid by the way.  I saw on the forum, Jack has set the date for next year's symposium, are you going to be presenting? Hopefully, it would br a priviledge to meet you, I'm pretty sure I didn't meet you in Dallas for the first one.

  • "Steve, Great Material! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to put together the material on the DW and 46 Gambler.I'm still sifting thru all the nuts and bolts of your chalkboard presentation..impressive!  We start our conditioning the first week in August and can guarranty you that we'll take your 36/25 power play and rep it until we wear out the turf on the field. As I was watching and listening intently, I was also contemplating putting your stuff together in a playbook for the kids, until I visited today's forum discussion on your manual that your putting together. Great compliment to the videos...And as they say in Texas.. Petal to the metal dude.Do you have an approxiamte date for release of the manual?  -Coach Dave Rep It...Run It...Win It."

  • "All i can say is thank you coach, your videos and playbook have been a tremendous help.I will send video of my third and fourth grade team running the offense after are first game.Coach Lewis"
  •
  • "I loved the tapes.  Very well done.  I watch it every night.  Thanks for making this available to me.  Question:  Do you have a Defensive playbook that I can purchase i regards to the 46 gambler defense.  Because I need to share it with my coaches" Nick
  •
  • "Steve: The tapes are awesome, although you threw me with the highlights that open the first tape -- I wondered if they had been mislabeled, but when I popped #2 into the VCR, there you were discussing stunts. I went back and watched the (incredibly impressive) defensive highlights, and then there you were -- The Man With The White Board. ;) I still haven't had a chance to watch the DVD, but am looking forward to it very much. Thanks for the stuff, and for the fast, friendly PayPal service... Regards, Ted Seay"

  • "2003- we played 11 games. Our record was 8-3. Gave up 77 points for the season or 7 points per game. With 3 shut outs. Allowed only 219 yards of total offense for the year. That's 20 yard avg. of opponent's total offense per game. We won the Berks County Fall Football Classic. 2004- played 8 games. Our record was 7-1. Gave up 48 points for the year or 6 points per game. With 4 shut outs. Going into last game opponents were averaging 3 points per game. The team we played scored 21 points. (We had a lot of starters hurt.) Allowed only 115 yards of total offense for the year. That's 14 yard avg. of opponent's total offense per game. TO THINK THAT THE LAST GAME WE GAVE UP 70 YARDS OF OFFENSE !!!! One other note both teams went into that game 7-0. THE 1ST 7 GAMES MOST OF THE YARDS GAINED WERE WHEN I PUT MY SECOND STRING IN. Dave Weinman"

  • GAMBLER FOR 6-8 YEAR OLDS??? READ THIS... "Coaches Any misgivings I had about the 46 were put to rest today as not only our starters but our 2nd defense with 6- 8 year olds dominated at a 4 team scrimmage this morning. In 3-40 minute scrimmages our 46-d allowed 1 td and only about 10 1st downs along with 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles one we recovered. The opposing offenses had over 10 fumbled snaps with our Nicks (one big, one small) kicking the crap out of the centers. Thanks Steve from me and my coaches for all your help Jim "

  • "Steve, The defense rocked at the jamboree. Out of 30 plays...76 total yards, 3 sacks and 5 plays for losses! My de's are the keys. Mike & Will are good athletes and tacklers, but my ends are the "enforcers" (thats their nickname). My Fred is a "football smart" kid with good closing speed..he is my captain. You should have seen these 8-10yr olds communicating on the field, anyone who thinks that the Gambler is too complicated to teach under 10's is wrong. I talk & walk it every day for 15 mins.- Paul"

  • "Could not put it down last night, my wife definately does not understand how
after a 2 1/2 hour practice and 1 1/2 hour board meeting I can come home and
spend 3 hours reading about football drills and techniques.  I love the
position by position decriptions of responsibilities and techniques paired
with the specific drills to teach them. I have a long ways to go
understanding defense, being an old Offensive lineman, but this will make a
huge impact. In fact it already has, last year my LB's moved laterally and
caught plays from behind, my D-Line shot the gaps and were out of position,
after two weeks of bermuda triangle and TNT reaction in shorts and tee
shirts the LB's are already way more aggresive and my TNT is looking great.
I think the manual and DVD really payoff with those drills specific to the
responsibilities and techniques of each position. Can't wait for next week
when we go to full contact to implement more of the drills and see the
improvement in the kids. Thanks for all your help. -Ed"

  • "Steve~Great job!! The clinic was excellent. I really enjoyed the drills; very, very, very good stuff. It was nice to meet you and everyone who attended. FYI, I was trying to watch/learn how you "coached" these drills, as much as how you designed the drills. Your a very good teacher--that’s a major plus for you--and I bet that this is where alot of your success comes from. I am no teacher, but, I believe, that its how we teach (coach) that determines our success to a large part. And...Nick...he has a TON of energy! His program is VERY fortunate to have him, with his enthusiasm and heart for the game. The offer's on the table Nick:) Also, I can see why you played the one kid at QB; he’s got a great attitude. Same with Tony. Oh...almost forgot...you must be the only guy who runs full-contact clinics--lol. But, learning by doing is the best way. Thanks again. I really appreciate your hosting this clinic and putting in the time to teach it. I’ll send you some ideas I thought of on drive home last night"-Coach

  • "Coach,I would like to offer a work of thanks for hosting the football clinic on Saturday. I have pulled out many subtle teaching techniques that are critical to running the double wing to perfection. I am sure that this seminar will make me a better coach that will produce more knowledgeable and competent players being sent to the high school level. The DW system is very sound and obviously hard to stop. It was very motivating to see you live and breathe high school football. Thanks again for all your efforts....P.S. The run throughs on the floor were especially informative on the precision required from everyone to run the plays to perfection."-Andy

  • "Steve,
I enjoyed your defensive clinic very much! I only wish I could have made it on Saturday as well. I have to admit you know your defense very well and the guys at the clinic were all great! The young man named Nick, is that ndestafano? I know I was excited to come home and share the information you showed all of us. I especially loved the installation drills that help you get the defense installed? My new favorite word is LEVERAGE!
Since you taped the clinic how can I get a copy of the chalk talk and the drill installation period?
I would like to get out for your next clinic but hopefully I won't log 450 miles on 2 hours of sleep.
It was nice to place some faces with names of guys that frequent the boards.
    Thanks again!"-Frank

  • "I DUG IT! Steve's clinic was like the old Colt 45 Malt Liquor theme: "A Completely Unique Experience." On Saturday, Steve showed us he has some unique ideas about blocking and play design that you won't see from any of the "big three" (Markham, Valottin or Wyatt). He showed us some stuff that made us all go Whoooooa! On Sunday, he answered all my questions (why? how? who?) about teaching and running the 46. Man, the hands-on participative drills were eye opening. Who knows what he'll think of for next year. Steve, you should do a presentation at the DW Symposium next year. Symposium organizers make sure we have plenty of room for the demostations. Thanks a lot Steve, and like I said, I DUG IT!"-Greg

  • "Steve,
I had a great time and got a lot out of the clinic...the best one that I've
attended. The hands-on stuff was the best (although I'm a little stiff today
from the drills and ride home). Thanks for all of your hard work. I have
lots to think about before the season starts, but you helped make up my mind
on a number of things that will make it easier to teach my kids the DW (ie,
FB is a lead blocking on counters, keeping the backside assignments the
same, same with trap, I don't see any reason why I can't or shouldn't pull
that backside tackle, etc.). The little coaching points on the DW and 46
were awesome as well. I have to admit that I just didn't understand the 3
tech at all...knew the alignment but couldn't piece it together until your
clinic...same with the DEs responsibilities, until I saw it, I wasn't
coaching it correctly..great D drills as well. Thanks again"-Rick

  • " I have cuts and bruises all over the place! My trapping shoulder is all purple from colliding with you and Jeff. I'm fragile...lol. But I completely agree. It was a great and UNIQUE clinic. I learned a lot about breaking down film and looking for different things that Steve was pointing out. I was familiar with the X's and O's but the demonstrations and hands-on approach to this stuff was something I don't think I could have gotten anywhere else. The last 4 hours or so of the Gambler clinic were priceless, stuff that you don't get on any tape, but you really got to see how the defense is supposed to come together. So Steve, I echo Greg's words...I DUG IT!"-Nick
  • "Just received my 7 DVD set from Steve's April DW Smashmouth and 46 Gambler Coaching Clinic on Friday.  I finished watching all 7 DVDs by Saturday night...I couldn't put them away.  I have seen a lot of clinics and clinic videos, even hosted a clinic myself with Steve last year, but this is far and away the best yet.  The group of coaches at this year's clinic was superior and hence so were the questions and scenarios that were brought up in discussion.  The use of hands-on particpatory demonstrations is a great laboratory exercise that enhances and brings to life the x's and o's chalk talk and discussion... the DVD set is awesome...Thanks Steve for another great clinic..."-Dave
